Florida Digital Service

BRANDING + DIGITAL DESIGN + CREATIVE STRATEGY + SOCIAL MEDIA + UX/UI DESIGN

About the Work

Navigating state government in the creative industry can be uniquely challenging.

These challenges have offered exponential growth as a designer. They demand efficiency with tax-payer dollars and continuously practicing the balance of function over form. The Florida Digital brand demands trust and professionalism as an agency leading cybersecurity initiatives for the State of Florida and responding to legislative policy to support agencies with subject matter expertise. Working alongside the Policy and Content team here has allowed me to explore more than just design, practicing what it means to follow rigid structure with a creative mind.

DEFINING THE BRAND

Updating a brand in the public sector can have its roadblocks when you’re representing the digital landscape efficacy of an entire state. This required strategy, stakeholder input, and several rounds of trial and error. Feedback came from leadership as well as our agency staff to assist my team and I to produce brand standards everyone feels confident following and utilizing to present their expertise with.

The content

Working within the Policy and Content team, we standardized templates to be used throughout the agency to establish consistency and a uniform voice.

Our brand standards ensure Florida Digital is easily recognized wether it be through presentations, documentation, email signatures, or office signage and wayfinding.

The Florida Digital socials played a big part in crafting how we developed our brand standards and how we continue to highlight our work externally.

Our audience includes Governor Ron DeSantis, capitol legislators and staff, agencies looking for guidance, cybersecurity vendors and partners, young tech professionals looking to kickstart a career in the public sector, and of course all hard working Floridians.

I work closely with leadership and the Communications Director to develop copy, photography, graphics, and managing a social calendar.

The Campaign

Responsibilities at the Florida Digital Service include curating and coordinating communications for locals that need more assistance keeping their contracts for cybersecurity tools financially supported and protected.

Email Design:
Originally built in MailChimp, I transferred the comms into Outlook while maintaining the design in order to reach more agencies without bounce-back and to save $4,000 on third-party email services per year.

Socials:
In addition to establishing email comms in Outlook, I’ve designed 3 years worth of social media content for this annual grant program campaign.
